An upcoming tour will allow Bucks County residents and visitors to learn about one of the country’s most famous leaders.

Washington Crossing Historic Park will be offering a guided lantern tour on Oct. 7 from 6:30 – 7:30 PM. The tour will include a history presentation on the conditions the men of George Washington’s army would have faced the night of the historic Crossing of the Delaware River.

On Christmas morning of 1776, the general famously had his army cross the ice-cold Delaware, from the area now known as Washington Crossing, to take enemy troops by surprise in New Jersey. The decision ended up being a pivotal moment in the Revoluntary War and the founding of the United States.

“This tour lasts about 1 hour and covers the conditions and history of the crossing, as well as the three battles that follow it, the battles of Trenton and the battle of Princeton,” event organizers said online.

Tickets for the tour can be found here.
