Central Bucks School District Wants to Raise Wages for Non-Teaching Staff

The proposal first came out a week before the start of the school year, when the district was showing 130 openings for support staff.

The Central Bucks School District proposed significant raises in wages for non-teachers as it continues to struggle to fill support staff jobs, writes Ed Doyle for TAPinto Doylestown.

The proposal would provide some staff members with a bump in pay of up to 12 percent.

According to a memorandum of understanding posted by the district on its website, starting rates for many of its non-teaching jobs will go up by 5 percent. Meanwhile, administrative assistants, technology support specialists, and custodians will see their pay increase by 8 percent. Nurses will receive raises of 10 percent and some classroom assistants will be bumped up by up to 12 percent.

Auxiliary employees will also receive wage increases, according to the district.

The proposal first came out a week before the start of the school year, when the district was showing 130 openings for support staff.

This included openings for the Community School program, which provides before and after-school care for students. As a result, parents were being put on a waitlist as the program was already full for the number of staff it employed.
