Vice President of New Hope Borough Council Remembered for Contributions to Her Community

McHugh was first elected to the Borough Council in 2016, where she “quickly earned a reputation as a thoughtful, fair, and professional representative of New Hope’s diverse residents and businesses."

An active member of the Bucks County community is being remembered for her work and dedication to her fellow citizens, according to a staff report from WFMZ 69 News.

Laurie McHugh, the vice president of New Hope Borough Council, was killed in a car crash on Monday, around 1 PM in Buckingham Township. She was 58 years old.

“It is with shock and profound sadness that New Hope Borough Council mourns the loss of its Vice President, Laurie McHugh,” said the borough council in a statement.

McHugh was first elected to the Borough Council in 2016, where she “quickly earned a reputation as a thoughtful, fair, and professional representative of New Hope’s diverse residents and businesses,” stated the council.

McHugh also served as Council Liaison to the Shade Tree Commission and Greater New Hope Chamber of Commerce. She also served as the CEO and Co-Founder of Union Chill, a cannabis store located at 204 North Union Street in nearby Lambertville.
