A major football team in Bucks County has partaken in a tradition that will add a little bit of luck to their next few games.

The Archbishop Wood Football Team gathered together for their Annual Helmet Blessing Mass on Monday. The occasion is a special Wood Football Tradition that is held every year. Father Dave O’Brien performed the blessing for the students.

Archbishop Wood Catholic High School, located at 655 York Road in Warminster, is a member of the Philadelphia Catholic League for both boy’s and girl’s competitions.

“The aim of the athletic program is to develop initiative, school spirit, and good sportsmanship, by instilling a concern and respect for life and health; fostering leadership skills, and encouraging the achievement of self-confidence through participation in the personal decisions which shape the character of a true champion,” the school said online.

“Additionally, the athletic program seeks to have each student develop his/her entire physical potential by increasing strength, endurance, and agility.”
