The former Bensalem player was recently drafted to the MLB team.

A baseball player from Bucks County has been drafted to a major league team as he wraps up his successful collegiate career.

Nick Dean, a right-hand pitcher for the Maryland Terrapins baseball team, was recently drafted to the Chicago Cubs in the 19th round. He listed as pick #556.

Windy City bound!” his current team said online. “Nick Dean goes to the @cubs in the 19th round!”

The player got his start playing for the Bensalem Owls at Bensalem High School. He helped the team to a 23-4 finish and a district championship in his junior year. His high school career ended with a .524 batting average.

“Congratulations to Bensalem Baseballs own Nick Dean on being drafted to the MLB in the 19th round to the Chicago Cubs!” his high school team said online.

Dean is currently a senior at the University of Maryland, where he majors in sociology. As he makes his way into Major League Baseball, many remember his time in Bensalem as the years that formed his skills and tenacity in the sport.
