The night was highlighted by an unforgettable musical performance.

There is a good reason why the Pennsbury High School Prom has been voted the best prom in America by Reader’s Digest, writes Eddie Kadhim for FOX 29 Philadelphia.

The flashy affair had its latest iteration this Saturday, with this year’s theme being the 1980s. More than 700 students arrived at the venue in style as the community surrounded the red carpet to cheer them on.

“Honestly, I was considering going to the tech school when I was in 8th grade,” said Jules Bielawsky. “I ended up going to Pennsbury just for the prom.”

The students arrived at the prom in fancy vehicles and parade floats themed after the 1980s. To make the time trip possible, community members worked tirelessly to turn the school into a time machine that took everybody four decades back.

Students also worked for more than nine months to prepare the school for the big event.

“They spent 14 hours yesterday taping and folding and putting their murals in place,” said Pennsbury art teacher Maggie Webber.
