A nonprofit in Bucks County is continuing its efforts to help relieve food insecurity and hunger throughout the area.

United Way of Bucks County, headquartered at 413 Hood Boulevard in Fairless Hills, officially packed their one millionth prepared meal during their annual “Knock Out Hunger” food drive program. The meals were prepared by a group working together inside the Neshaminy Mall in Bensalem.

“Can you believe it?? We just packed our 1 millionth meal at #BKOHunger!” the organization said online. “1 million meals towards one goal… fighting hunger in #BucksCounty!”

A large number of volunteers came to help the nonprofit and secure meals for those in need. Other organizations who were present and helping to package food included YMCA Bucks County and Penn Community Bank, which found a lucky “golden ticket” during the packing process.

With approximately 45,000 local residents dealing with food insecurity, the initiative is a way to help those facing hard times.
