The preview for this year’s U.S. News & World Report law school rankings is out, and the University of Pennsylvania Carey Law School has found its place in the top five, writes Melissa Korn for The Wall Street Journal.

This year, Penn Carey Law shares fourth place with Harvard University’s law school, which is two spots higher than last year when it ranked in sixth place.

This is the first list since Penn Carey Law decided not to submit data in December to the ranking, following the withdrawal of other top schools, including the first-place holder Yale Law School. The schools said that the rankings were flawed and provided incentives for schools to award financial aid not based on financial need but based on test scores, among other issues.

“While we await the final rankings and more information on the methodology to be released on April 18, we are gratified to see that U.S. News considered collective feedback and modified its rankings this year, and that our strong, positive student outcomes are reflected in their ranking released today,” said a Penn Carey Law spokesperson.
