The popular venue celebrated 50 years of shows and good times.

One of the most well-known bars in Bucks County is celebrating a major milestone with continued entertainment and a new book to boot.

John and Peter’s, a popular bar and music venue located at 96 South Main Street in New Hope, will be celebrating their 50th Anniversary Celebration Week from April 12 – 16. Each day will see a new act performing at their famous venue.

Along with the live entreatment, the venue is also celebrating the publication of a new book that covers their 50 year-long journey at the forefront of live entertainment in the area and beyond. “Still Drinkin’ & Smokin’, Rockin’ & Rollin'” will be released this summer. Written by authors Amy Yates Wuelfing, Joan Arkuszewski, and Loren Hunt, the book covers the long history of the bar and music venue.

The celebrations come at a bittersweet time for the venue. Peter Price, the bar’s co-founder and partial namesake, recently passed away. He was an integral part of the bar’s operations, along with fellow founder John Larsen.

Beginning in 1973, the colorful building has been a mainstay of the culture of New Hope and beyond, with countless major acts getting their start on their small stage.
