The popular venue celebrated 50 years of shows and good times.

A popular bar and music venue in Bucks County is continuing to celebrate 50 years of business with several items of memorabilia.

John and Peter’s, located at 96 South Main Street in New Hope, celebrated their 50th Anniversary Celebration Week from April 12 – 16. Each night saw bands come in to entertain local residents and visitors.

To cap off the celebration, the bar released several branded items to commemorate the massive achievement. Hats and stickers were among the items made. Two new beers were also made to celebrate five decades of music and good times.

The venue also celebrated the upcoming publication of a new book that covers their 50 year-long journey at the forefront of live entertainment in the area and beyond. “Still Drinkin’ & Smokin’, Rockin’ & Rollin’” will be released on June 14. Written by authors Amy Yates Wuelfing, Joan Arkuszewski, and Loren Hunt, the book covers the long history of the bar and music venue.

The celebrations come at a bittersweet time for the venue. Peter Price, the bar’s co-founder and partial namesake, recently passed away. He was an integral part of the bar’s operations, along with fellow founder John Larsen.

Beginning in 1973, the colorful building has been a mainstay of the culture of New Hope and beyond, with countless major acts getting their start on their small stage.
