Villanova basketball player Maddie Burke will be one of several speakers at the event.

Three Bucks County personalities will be among the 12 scheduled speakers at the “Dream Big Rally,” which aims to answer today’s teenagers’ question. Tom Moore wrote about the discussion for Philly Burbs.

Speakers include Denver Nuggets guard Collin Gillespie, a basketball star at Archbishop Wood and later at Villanova, Maddie Burke, a Villanova women’s basketball standout from Central Bucks West, and Justin Guarini, a Central Bucks East graduate who is a singer, artist, and producer as well as the American Idol Season 1 runner-up.

They will talk about how they handled various issues that came up in their middle and high school days.

The free event will take place on May 13 at Lenape Middle School in Doylestown. It will be hosted by Mike Carey and the Mike Pettine Foundation.

Carey got the idea for the event from talking to several teenagers who work at one of his restaurants.

“Anxiety, depression, feeling isolated, not good enough, pressured by social media…” he said. “I felt I had to try and make a difference and help these young men and women.”
