Yardley Contractor Remembered as Loving Husband, Father After Recent Tragedy

The cola contractor is being remembered as a loving father and husband.

An employee of a Bucks County company, who lost his life in a recent tragedy, is being remembered as a loving and hardworking man. Trish Hartman wrote about the local man for 6abc.

Jose Pereira, an employee of Ferguson Contracting in Yardley, who perished in a deadly balcony collapse in Sea Isle City last week, left behind his wife and three daughters.

The accident happened while workers were re-cementing balconies of a condominium building at the Jersey Shore on Friday afternoon. The eighth-floor balcony crashed down onto the balcony below. Pereira was working on the seventh-floor balcony when thousands of pounds of rubble fell on him leavimg him trapped.

Firefighters, police, and several search and rescue teams responded to a 911 call, but they were not able to help the trapped man because the side of the building was deemed unsafe. He died at the scene.

The cause of the collapse is currently being investigated by local and county officials, as well as by OSHA. The Yardley company is also being investigated by OSHA.

His family has described Pereira as a hard worker and a wonderful man.
