Earlier this year, the group hosted performances of Edward Albee’s “A Delicate Balance,” which began on Jan. 27 and ended on Feb. 12.

A student theatre group in Bucks County is celebrating a major milestone in the history of a musical that has a special local connection. Cierra Gelfand wrote about the group for WFMZ 69 News.

The Central Bucks High School East Thespian Troupe is celebrating the 80th anniversary of the musical “Oklahoma!”, which featured songs whose lyrics were penned by Oscar Hammerstein II, a prominent lyricist from Doylestown.

Members of the thespian group went to Hammerstein’s former estate in Bucks County to give renditions of songs from the musical.

“I think it’s fair to say this is the most important private home in musical theater history,” said Jaime Rogers, the vice president of the Oscar Hammerstein Museum and Theatre Education Center.

“I was so excited to come to East and to be in Patriot Players… the shows we put on are just like Broadway level, they’re fantastic,” said student Keira Corcoran.
