The local veteran celebrated a big birthday in style with help from his community.

A veteran living in Bucks County recently celebrated a major milestone in life, and his community came together to help him celebrate. Staff reporters at 6abc wrote about the festive occasion.

Walter Blowitski, a World War II veteran from Warminster, was honored for his service during his centennial birthday celebration last week.

Blowitski, who served in the U.S. Navy, was recognized for his heroism by the Warrior Watch Motorcycle Group on Saturday. Members of the group held a special ceremony for the veteran, where they presented him with gifts and commemorative coins.

After the ceremony, everybody enjoyed a birthday luncheon.

Blowitski is one of a select few veterans in the area who have celebrated a triple-digit birthday in the last few years. Last year, Morrisville resident and fellow WWII veteran George Krikorian celebrated his 100th birthday. Another veteran of the war, Langhorne resident Eugene Edwards, made it to 102 before he passed away in March of 2022.
