Former Bucks County DA — a Skilled Prosecutor, Not a Politician — Named the State’s New Attorney General

By

Former Bucks County District Attorney Michelle Henry is Pennsylvania’s new Attorney General, writes Jon Delano for CBS Pittsburgh.

Gov. Josh Shapiro has named Henry as his replacement. The position requires confirmation by the state Senate. Henry said that if she is confirmed, she does not plan to run for election in 2024.

“Even if they didn’t make me make that pledge, I would not be running for Attorney General,” said Henry. “I never set out to be Attorney General when I took this position. I am happy to do it for these two years and carry out what we started, but I do not want to run, and I won’t run.”

Henry is not a politician but a skilled courtroom prosecutor. She gained most of her experience in Bucks County, where she was successful in prosecuting former Attorney General Kathleen Kane. She also focused on child abuse cases before being hired by Shapiro six years ago to serve as his first deputy.

“My experience at Bucks County was tremendous,” said Henry. “I spent a lot of time prosecuting child abuse cases and really being the voice for victims. And it was a wonderful experience.”
