Newtown-Based Gardening Club Offers Scholarships in Honor of Late Member

The new garden will give children the opportunity to learn more about how food is grown.

A Bucks County garden club is offering local students the opportunity to apply to a lucrative scholarship for those interested in gardening.

The Martha Washington Garden Club, located at 41 Linden Avenue in Newtown, has opened their scholarship application for high school and college students.

Those who are applicable are students interested in Horticulture or any related field, such as Landscape Architecture, Forestry, Conservation, Environmental Studies, Turf Management, Conservation and Wildlife Management, Marine Biology, or Floriculture.

“Since 1935, the Martha Washington Garden Club has been meeting to hear educational lectures, working on Community Gardens, helping with Garden therapy at assisted living communities, providing college scholarships in memory of member Jane Parr, touring gardens, hosting plant sales, educating the community on healthy horticultural practices and so much more,” the club said online.

“We thank you all for being a part of this group and we look forward to meeting up again in the future. In the meantime, do some at home garden therapy and keep being a good steward of Planet Earth.”
