Pennridge High School's girls wrestling program was recently approved by the PIAA.

A local girls wrestling program recently became the 100th in the state to be approved as an official sports entity. Matt Allibone wrote about the development for the York Daily Record.

The girls wrestling program at Pennridge High School, in Perkasie, was officially approved by the state of Pennsylvania this week. As the 100th program, the sport can now be sanctioned by the PIAA.

Pennridge is the latest Bucks County high school to have its program approved.

“We’re incredibly emotional from the day we just had,” said SanctionPA, a nonprofit promoting the sport in Pennsylvania.

“We would not be here without each of these 100 schools and everyone that was a part of this journey in some way. This is a monumental accomplishment that many felt was impossible, but all of you believed in it, and together we made it happen. The effort that was put in was historic. We couldn’t be prouder to be a part of this wrestling family.”
