A Bucks County township board recently partnered with a major garbage company to ensure residents can safely dispose of their trash. Staff writers at WasteDive wrote about the recent contract.

The Northampton Township Board of Supervisors has voted unanimously to award the contract for its comprehensive trash, recycle, and yard waste collection valued at almost $28 million to local solid waste hauling company Whitetail Disposal. The 3-year term contract with two successive 1-year options includes once a week collection for trash, recycle, and yard waste.

Under the contract, Whitetail Disposal will start providing services for the 12,800 homes in Northampton Township on January 1, 2023. The township is making the transition from its current manual rear load service to automated service with equipment.

Each home will receive a 96-gallon trash toter. Residents already own recycling equipment, while yard waste service will remain the same.

“We’re excited about the opportunity to work for and partner with Northampton for the collection, and the transition of the community over to automated service”, said CEO Mike Schmidt. “Northampton is one of the largest communities in PA, and we’re well prepared as a partner with the community to make this significant improvement in their waste services.”

Perkiomenville-based Whitetail Disposal is the largest individual script hauler in the region. It was founded 15 years ago by Schmidt.
