This town is regarded as one of the best holiday destinations in the country.

A Bucks County fund has been helping families in need celebrate Christmas for over six decades, a much-needed gift during the holiday season. Crissa Shoemaker DeBree wrote about the fund for the Bucks County Courier Times.

For 65 years, the Bucks County Courier Times and Levittown-Bristol Kiwanis’ Give A Christmas fund has been helping Lower Bucks families in need during the holiday season, and this year will continue the tradition. The need remains great, especially with the current inflation.

“What I’m seeing is what we’re all seeing – the overall crunch of the economy as far as the increase in utilities and food, and the everyday functioning of a household and a family,” said Mary Berman, who oversees Give A Christmas on behalf of the Kiwanis.

All of the money donated to the campaign goes directly to local families to help cover any unmet needs.

Last year’s campaign raised $133,523, helping 2,075 Lower Bucks families. The goal for this year is $132,000.

“There is incredible need in our communities, and each year through Give A Christmas, our readers come through to take care of some of the most vulnerable among us during the holiday season,” said Danielle Camilli, executive editor of the Bucks County Courier Times.
