A Bucks County elementary school recently collaborated with local law enforcement agencies to honor their work in he community.

Oxford Valley Elementary School, located at 430 Trenton Road in Fairless Hills, recently celebrated School Safety Week by honoring first responders that keep their communities safe.

Students and staff of the elementary school, a part of the larger Pennsbury School District, were able to interact with and thank community firefighters, police officers, and local EMTs, as well as school nurse Jill Demi and acting chief of Pennsbury security Steve Louden. Students worked together to make snack baskets for all of the first responders that were at the event.

“Following the recognition event, students and staff headed outside to learn more about the first responders’ role in the community,” the school district said online. “They explored a firetruck, ambulance, and the Falls Township Fire Marshal’s office Smoke Trailer.”

The smoke trailer is a safe and effective method of simulating a house fire so that children can see what it would be like tot be inside a burning building.
