The Bucks County town is considering removing all single-use plastics from use at stores.

Doylestown is one of the latest areas to being talks of banning single use plastics in stores across the area. Jeff Werner wrote about the potential decision for the Doylestown Patch.

In an ordinance being proposed by the Environmental Advisory Council (EAC) on Sept. 20, local residents will be able to have their voices heard on the move that is becoming a regular decision in towns across the nation.

With Newtown and Solebury townships recently making similar decisions, the ordinance would ban the use of single-use plastics and bags from stores throughout the borough.

“The widespread use of single-use plastics is a serious environmental problem facing all communities including Doylestown Borough,” the Doylestown Borough website said. “Plastic lingers in the environment, creating a visual blight on the landscape, burdening landfills, clogging waterways, and endangering marine life.”
