Doylestown Seniors Learn to Tap Dance at Local Center with Help of Dance Group
A local dance group is working with a Doylestown senior center to keep older Bucks County adults active. Tamala Edwards wrote about the latest dance craze for 6ABC Action News.
The Toe Tappers, a Doylestown-based dance group founded in 2014, is working with the Central Bucks Senior Activity Center to teach a fun activity to local senior citizens who are looking to stay active.
“The mission is to teach seniors how to tap dance for fun and for exercise,” said Judy Sandelands, the director of Toe Tappers.
Offering dance lessons for skilled professionals and beginners, the local group aims to teach residents of the senior center a new skill for fun and exercise.
As the lessons progress, the dance group visits local veterans’ homes, retirement communities and church groups to perform and show off their skills.
“Watching them be excited when they finally master the dance, it’s so exciting,” said Jeanne Evans, the group’s associate director.
The group’s lessons is a great example of how it is never too late to learn a new skill, and to discover the fun of going beyond what we think we can do.
