Council Rock School District to Host Community Forum on School Safety and Security

Newtown Middle School will host the first of many forums on school safety.

The Council Rock School District will be hosting the first of a series of community forums on school safety and security at Newtown Middle School. Jeff Werner wrote about the safety forums for the Newtown, PA Patch.

Discussions on school safety are a response to the school shooting that took place in Uvalde, Texas. The forums will give the community and school officials a chance to talk about measures that will keep students safe.

“During the superintendent’s search, the community ranked safety and security as the top priority, which is one of the reasons we will begin our community forums with this topic,” said Andrew Sanko, the school’s Superintendent.

Joined by representatives from local police departments, emergency responders and staff, Sanko will attend the events to discuss Council Rock’s plans to ensure students and staff are safe.

“We will continue to have that strong working relationship with our police departments,” Sanko said.

The first of several forums is set for the middle school’s auditorium on Aug. 10 at 8 PM. The forums are open to the public; those who wish to ask questions can submit them in writing by Aug. 9.
