The Coffee Room in Newtown Closing in August, Reopening in September Under New Ownership
Owners of the Coffee Room in Newtown, Raj and Margaret Kumar, have announced that their café will close its doors on August 14, writes Jeff Werner for the Patch.
“With much sadness – and excitement – we would like to announce that The Coffee Room will be welcoming you for the last time on Sunday, August 14,” the owners announced on Facebook.
The Newtown couple first opened the Coffee Room five years ago, providing an alternative to corporate java not far from their location. Now, they have decided it is time to move on.
“We have been humbled with the extraordinary support of Newtown, friends – new and old, near and far, fabulous baristas and our amazing family,” wrote the couple. “We have shared coffee along with friendship and countless laughs and smiles.”
However, the closure will be temporary, as its new owners, Andrew and Jodi Dittman of Calm Waters Coffee in Bristol, plan to reopen in the same location in September.
“Andrew grew up in Newtown and is very excited to share his passion for coffee with a town he has called home,” reads the Facebook post.
