Pre-K Teacher in West Chester a Viral Sensation Who Uses TikTok to Educate an Audience of Millions

By

Tell Williams, an educator in West Chester, has been using humor and his life experiences as a gay pre-K teacher to reach the hearts of millions of viewers, parents, and children, writes Alicia Vitarelli for 6abc.

Williams’s videos on TikTok have earned him more than 2.2 million followers as he uses his platform to advocate and connect others.

After the so-called “Don’t Say Gay” bill was passed in Florida, he said his words had a particularly resounding effect for teachers and parents while on a comedy tour in the Sunshine State. He believes that school should be a safe space for all and spreads the message that kids should celebrate themselves, their differences, and their families.

“I’m in a very privileged position that people listen,” said Williams. “I can be that visible gay person that I didn’t have growing up. This wasn’t something I had. If I can be that for a teacher, a parent, it’s worth it.”

With hopes of continuing to use his voice in the future, Williams is currently earning a graduate degree in social work and has goals of becoming a therapist.
