A replacement project on the elevators at Centennial Station, Warminster, has residents, staff, families, and township officials concerned.

Concerns are rising among residents of Centennial Station, a 55+ condo in Warminster. The issue that’s pushing their buttons is a series of offline elevators, decommissioned for replacement. Alicia Roberts stepped up to get to the bottom of the story for CBS3.

Although one resident characterized the elevator absences as a necessary evil. Others weren’t so casual.

“To do this to people that live on second, third, fourth floor, it’s terrible,” one resident said.

The replacement project will affect the sole elevator in two of the site’s ten buildings. As these are brought back online (four to six weeks later), work will move onward through the campus.

Joe Velten, Warminster Township Director of Emergency Management/Services, says he’s aware of the downtime. He has prepped his teams on contingency plans to prevent delays in emergency response times.

The staff at Centennial Station is committing to stepping up its game as well. Its members are already committing to take to the stairs to deliver groceries and remove trash.

Absent the lifts, some residents have chosen to temporarily move in with family.

More on the rise in concern about this situation is at CBS3.
