Blue Bell-Bound Plane Crashes on Wayne Golf Course; Bystanders Help Pilot, Passengers Reach Safety

By

A single-engine plan registered to a man in Ambler crashed into St. David’s County Club in Wayne at approximately 3:30 p.m. yesterday afternoon, says the Tredyffrin Township police. Nicole Acosta and Jasmine Payoute reported the potentially disastrous landing for CBS3.

Officials say a mechanical issue caused the Cirrus SR22 single-engine plane to fail. The transport was carrying a male pilot, a female passenger, and two cats from Fort Meyers, Fla., to Blue Bell’s Wings Field.

The pilot found an opening on the golf course and made an emergency landing near some trees. Witnesses onsite helped evacuate the plane.

“It’s extremely rare. They’re very fortunate,” said Tredyffrin Township Police Chief Michael Beaty. “I think the pilot did as good a job as you could given the situation. And it was nice to have the people here so close to help them out.”

Both occupants were taken to Paoli Memorial Hospital and are expected to be okay.
