Meg Snead, Acting Secretary for the Pa. Dept. of Human Services, congratulated the Bucks County Human Services Division recently for its visionary structure. The Doylestown department is an all-encompassing resource whose long-term support has curbed incidents of child abuse in the county.

The Bucks County Human Services Division is an organized variety of solutions that solve interconnected societal ills. The centralized manner in which it operates resulted in an apt nickname, The Hub.

Acting Secretary Snead lauded The Hub, calling it a “one-stop shop” for its ability to link at-need residents with social and health services. When those needs are met, she cited, positive outcomes include reductions in child abuse incidents.

“Protecting children from abuse and neglect is a shared responsibility and requires involvement from all of us – families, educators, social services workers, law enforcement, and everyday citizens,” said Acting Secretary Snead. “Places like the Bucks County Human Services Hub are a safety net for families. When we create spaces that connect parents to the support they need, we are also providing the resources for children to live in a safe and protected environment they deserve.”

Pa. Senator Maria Collett (D–12) also pointed out the importance of a holistic approach to ensuring children’s well-being.

“I am encouraged by holistic programs like the Bucks County Human Services Hub that can connect struggling families with programs and resources. Lifting families up reduces instances of abuse and neglect and helps children grow up safe,” she said.
