Men on Main Street's hairstylists don't groom resident dog Charlie, but they can tackle customers' hair that's just as challenging.

Whatever the secret sauce is to a successful barber shop, Doylestown seems to have it. Combing through the Yelp reviews reveals six in-borough shops earning maximum ratings of five stars:

  • Doylestown Proper Barber Shop, 53 E. Oakland Ave., where Leo, according to one reviewer, is a “…ridiculously talented follicle master.”
  • Edward’s Barber Shop, 140 W. State St., which one patron found especially accommodating when his wedding-day shave at another proprietor was cancelled last minute.
  • Giordano’s Barber Shop, 632 N. Main St. Dennis seems to be the go-to guy there, noted for being skilled both at cutting and conversation.
  • Tom’s Barber Shop, 67 Atkinson Drive. Tom, reportedly a quiet talent, is masterful and in high demand. An appointment to experience his expert scissor skills is a must.
  • Men on Main Street Hairstyling, 323 S. Main St. Atop the great cuts, this shop can include an onsite visit with Charlie, a three-year-old Cavalier King Charles Spaniel/Poodle mix who sometimes hangs out there.
  • Doug’s Place, 21 S. West St. One fan of the services at Doug’s explained his long-term patronage by writing, “Finding a good barber is like finding a good mechanic, when you find a good one you stick with them.”

Three other five-star haircuts aside from those in Doylestown were also noted:

  • Anthony’s Barber Shop, 760 Woodbourne Rd., Ste. B, Langhorne
  • Librizzi’s Barber Shop, 2 Gazebo Pl., New Hope
  • Proline Barber Shop, 12 West Bridge St., New Hope
