The Birches at Newtown has received an award of distinction among senior-care providers in the U.S. and Canada.

Senior living community The Birches at Newtown has been recognized by A Place for Mom, a Seattle-based nonprofit senior care referral service. It was named a “Best of Senior Living” award recipient for 2022.

The distinction is extended to only 1–2 percent of senior care providers nationwide and in Canada.

A Place for Mom evaluates potential honorees based on:

  • An assessment of at least ten online reviews on its website or on SeniorAdvisor.com
  • An overall average of at least 4.5 stars across those reviews
  • A provision of services that includes assisted living, in-home care, independent living, skilled nursing, and memory care

The Birches at Newtown specializes in treating residents with cognitive decline, creating a “memory care neighborhood” at a central location within its community. The geography aids in helping these residents maintain a level of independence without undue risk.

One of its five-star reviewers wrote: “The facility is bright and cheerful and offers rehabilitation services as well as pleasure services like music, crafts, discussion groups and other service designed to involve residents on all mental and physical levels they are capable of. The staff know every resident by name making the friendliness quotient very high.”
