New Liberty Distilling plans to relaunch the Faber spirits brand, once distilled by Midnight Madness Distilling.

Philadelphia’s New Liberty Distilling has closed the deal to purchase Midnight Madness Distilling, the former Trumbauersville producer of Faber-branded liquors. Its plans include a relaunch of the brand. Laura Smythe barreled through the deal’s particulars in the Philadelphia Business Journal.

Millstone Spirits Group, operating as New Liberty, paid $1.4 million at a bankruptcy auction for Midnight Madness distilling and all its remaining assets. The purchase included Midnight Madness’ Trumbauersville site, two high-speed bottling lines, the intellectual property (including Faber), and its distilling equipment.

New Liberty sees the acquisition as an opportunity to diversify its product line and gain market share. The new owners’ plan to expand of the former Midnight Madness facility to ferment local grain into vodka.

Some former Midnight Madness employees have been retained, their numbers augmented by several post-acquisition new hires. Additional help is on the way, as New Liberty fills open slots in packaging, distribution, marketing, warehouse, sales, administration, and bookkeeping.

The New Liberty/Midnight Madness deal was struck last fall, but ongoing legal proceedings prevented its announcement.

More information on this business transition is at the Philadelphia Business Journal.
