Formal protection for tenant residences may be in Warrington Township's future.

In an effort to ensure that all township tenants live in a safe and healthy properties, the Warrington Township Board of Supervisors (BOS) is considering an annual rental inspection program for all rental housing units.

The proposal is meant to:

  • Improve the quality of living for township residents who occupy rental housing units
  • Ensure the same quality of living for residents who surround rental housing properties.
  • Establish a baseline for quality of living for all rental housing unit occupants

The ordinance will be considered for advertisement during the November 23, 2021, BOS meeting and will be considered for adoption during its December 14, 2021, assembly.

If approved, the Rental Inspection Program stands to be implemented in January 2022.

While inspections may not begin immediately after adoption, the work of getting the program up and running will start immediately.

If voted in, the ordinance will be available for public viewing on the township website.

Township staff will continue to provide more information on this issue through its website, social media platforms, and traditional media outlets as implementation of this new inspection plan commences.
