Tonight’s ‘Wheel of Fortune’ Episode Features a B_cks Co_nty Contestant Spinning for Cash and Prizes
The rat-a-tat sound of the spinning Wheel of Fortune will be music to the ears of Ari Lipsky, originally of Langhorne. He will fulfill a lifelong dream of being on the show when he appears on its October 5 episode. Pat Ralph, PhillyVoice, spun through how this came to happen.
Lipsky grew up watching Wheel of Fortune with his mom and remembered when the show once came to Philadelphia when he was 12 years old.
“I begged my mom to go to the audition,” Lipsky said. “We waited in line for a few hours, but ultimately she never got to audition.”
Now, he’ll take his mother’s place.
His virtual audition earned him a spot on the game show.
Lipsky, who left Bucks County for California, is one of several Wheel contestants with local ties: Philadelphia native and Eagles fan Dawn White won $47,000 in November 2018.
The show has highlighted Philadelphia a number of times, including a week of episodes in May 2016. The set was decorated with local visual icons, and Pat and Vanna’s prerecorded spots shot here were peppered throughout the broadcast.
More on Lipsky’s upcoming vowel-buying stint on America’s Game Show, airing on 6abc, is at PhillyVoice.
