The cast of Murder for Two, a musical murder mystery at the Bristol Riverside Theater, is energetic, talented, skilled… and minuscule.

One actor (Martin Landry) plays an intrepid detective trying to unwind a case.

The other (Joe Kinosian) plays the suspects. All ten of them.

The plot revives some common threads in the genre: an isolated mansion and the murder of a patriarch with numerous enemies. Potential killers include his ditzy wife, a pair of bickering neighbors, an over-eager 20-something student, his psychiatrist, and a drop-in firefighter.

There’s also a trio of Bowery Boys-style kids on hand to help.

This entire ensemble is played by Kinosian in a remarkable and brilliant set of performances. Each has his or her own speech pattern, physicality, and props that he handles with stunning ease.

Landry handily keeps the mystery moving along, peppering things with his own comedic timing.

And probably most surprising, the two actors also handle all the piano accompaniment for the musical. They seamlessly swap places on the keyboard without missing a beat. Literally.

“We picked Murder for Two for our return to the stage because it’s pure joy,’” said BRT Producing Director Amy Kaissar. “It’s a musical that is funny, impressive, and wildly entertaining.”
