St. Luke’s University Health Network (SLUHN) has invested $9 million in adding maternity and newborn care to its Upper Bucks campus. John George reported the expansion for the Philadelphia Business Journal.

SLUHN opened its 131,000-square-foot care facility in Milford Township in December 2019. The maternity capabilities are an early addition to the phase-in of more medical services onsite.

In September, the health system will break ground on a new wing. It will house expanded capabilities for cancer treatment, obstetrics, medical offices, and space for additional growth. SLUHN expects the $70 million project to finish by 2023.

St. Luke’s has also budgeted a $4.5 million expansion of behavioral health services in Quakertown.

“We will continue to add easy access to providers, amenities, and new services to meet the ongoing needs of our community,” said Dennis Pfleiger, president of St. Luke’s Upper Bucks and Quakertown campuses.

The women and babies unit, west wing, and behavioral health services expansion projects are expected to create about 110 new hospital jobs.

Justin Kashner, SLUHN service line administrator for women’s health, called the new Upper Bucks campus unit part of its “high-level maternal and newborn care” in the region.

More on SLUHN’s Bucks County footprint is at the Philadelphia Business Journal.
