Scootch Over, Therapy Dogs; Yardley Senior Living Facility Welcomes Therapy Dolls
Triplets were delivered to the Artis Senior Living Memory Care Facility in Yardley. The two boys and a girl were quiet, well-behaved and much loved, reports the Bucks County Courier Times.
The “infants” were a lifelike set of Reborn Baby dolls donated by Carolyn Sterner of Morrisville.
Sterner, who collects them, wanted to downsize her brood a bit. She offered to rehome three of her little ones.
According to Daily Caring, an online resource for the aged-care industry, therapy dolls benefit the elderly greatly. Their soft textures can help dementia patients feel more secure. Holding them also enables patients to relive warm memories of their own children.
In general, they lift moods and ease feelings of loneliness and isolation.
Michelle Bowski, director of life enrichment at Artis, said residents are amazed at how true-to-life the dolls are. The ladies enjoyed dressing them up in little outfits.
“Our residents are already enjoying fussing over these little sweethearts,” she said.
The Artis residents voted on names; Benjamin, Lucas and Ruby came out the winners.
More on how these surrogates are cheering up the residents at Artis is in the Bucks County Courier Times.
