Downingtown-Based Haverford Systems Sets Up Local College for Success with Long-Term Hybrid Learning

Downingtown-based Haverford Systems was instrumental in Rosemont College’s efforts to develop a successful system for long-term hybrid learning, according to a staff report from Commercial Integrator magazine.

Rosemont has adopted a hybrid model as the new long-term model of teaching. This allows educators to teach classes with both in-person and remote students present.

The college knew exactly who to call for help implementing the model, as Haverford Systems had already worked with the school on improving its audiovisual technologies.

In 2019, the integration company designed a video conferencing-capable boardroom, along with lecture capture and remote collaboration systems for Rosemont’s new Community Center. At the time, Haverford Systems also retrofitted eight of the school’s older classrooms and library spaces with state-of-the-art teaching and conferencing technologies.

Among other things, the learning spaces were equipped with PTZ cameras for instructor and participant capture, an 80-inch interactive display, a soundbar, and a wireless lavalier microphone for audio capture.

After the pandemic hit, the already integrated spaces were immediately adopted for instruction. When the time came for additional renovations at the school, Haverford Systems understood exactly what would work best within the allotted budget.

For the first new academic year that began amidst the pandemic, Dan Mason, Director of Information Technology for Rosemont College, was able to expand upon the original blueprint with more spaces throughout campus.

All-in-one, video-and-audio-capture webcam solutions were installed into some smaller and non-traditional spaces, expanding Rosemont’s hybrid learning footprint.

“These are the spaces we turned to when we could welcome back in-person instruction,” said Mason.

He said that the school considers the new systems a long-term investment.

“The model will not go away when the pandemic goes away,” he said.
