Lower Makefield Township’s pool is coming back; so is its camp and outdoor programming. Health concerns will alter their look and feel. But participants who can adapt will have a good time, reports Jeff Warner for Bucks Local News

Parks and Rec director Monica Tierney announced the good news at a board of supervisors’ meeting.

The Pool at LMT will reopen in May, after being shuttered since last spring.

Locking the doors of public park restrooms is also now a thing of the past. Tierney outlined their rigorous daily cleaning process, but also called on public cooperation with recommended hygiene practices.

“Be mindful,” she advised. “Wash your hands. Try not to go in there with other people. And mask when you’re inside the facility.”

Summer camp is also back, albeit in a revised format.

“We are only taking 20 campers at this time,” Tierney explained. “We are looking at some alternatives, maybe doing one-week camps here and there. One that we’re considering is a skateboard camp. Maybe a science camp.”

Outdoor programs in the township’s parks are also inching forward. As is a reopening of the community center. Tierney theorizes a July timeframe to “…get it right.”

Sports leagues are already on their feet, with plenty of COVID protocols in place. Further-out events — Community Day, Veteran’s Day — are still under discussion.

More on what was on the docket for the Township meeting is at Bucks Local News.
