With the last year being one of the hardest for local restaurants, the community in neighboring Bucks County has rallied to support their favorite eateries.

Bucks County has rallied to support their favorite local restaurants that have been hit hard by the pandemic, writes Hira Qureshi for the Bucks County Courier Times.

To help eateries survive one of the hardest periods for the industry, residents have been getting takeout and delivery, buying gift cards, and leaving bigger tips, among other things. Some have also been supporting the restaurants’ GoFundMe campaigns.

“We’ve been fortunate,” said Matthew Egner, a clinical scientist based in New Hope. “We haven’t lost our jobs. So, this year, we just figured out the best thing to do is throw as much money at the local economy as we can to get people through it.”

Egner and his wife have been ordering takeout several times a week, donating to various GoFundMe campaigns started both by restaurants and their staff, and buying groceries to donate to local food banks.

Socialization has proven to be another great way to support local eateries. Community members following eateries on social media and sharing their posts has helped them connect with other potential customers at a time when every order matters.
