Bucks County is home to some of Pennsylvania’s wealthiest zip codes, and the numbers back it up, writes Chris Ullery for Bucks County Courier Times.

A new analysis of 2024 American Community Survey data reveals that several Bucks County communities rank among the wealthiest in the state. The data evaluated what percentage of households in each township earn an income of $200,000 or more per year.

Upper Makefield Township leads the county and ranks seventh statewide, making it one of only 13 municipalities in all of Pennsylvania where a majority of households clear the $200,000 threshold. Nearly 55.3% of Upper Makefield households hit that mark.

Solebury Township isn’t far behind, landing 14th in the state with 49.2% of households earning at least $200,000 annually.

The list of high-earning Bucks communities doesn’t stop there. Buckingham, New Hope, Wrightstown, Lower Makefield, Newtown, and Doylestown all make appearances among Pennsylvania’s top-ranking municipalities.

Zoom out to the county level, Bucks County ranked second among all 67 Pennsylvania counties for estimated median household income, at $114,764. Bucks County trails only Chester County and slightly surpasses Montgomery County in a tight race among the Philadelphia suburbs.

While Upper Makefield was the only Bucks municipality to crack the statewide top 10, joining communities from Chester, Delaware, and Allegheny counties, the broader data points to a region that has quietly become one of Pennsylvania’s most affluent corners.
