A long-dormant stretch of Veterans Highway in Bristol Township may finally be getting new life in the form of a 129,000-square-foot warehouse, writes JD Mullane for Bucks County Courier Times.
Township council members granted tentative approval on May 21 for Herring Properties to build the facility at 313 Veterans Highway, the site once home to O’Connor Freightliner, a commercial truck dealership that’s been vacant for years.
The roughly 10-acre project would also mean the end of another neighborhood fixture, as the Stadium Bar and Grill building is slated for demolition.
Representatives James Herring and James McGinnis acknowledged the site has cycled through multiple redevelopment proposals over the years. Nearby residents and motorists have long flagged traffic concerns along the busy route, and those worries aren’t going away yet.
Before construction commences, Herring Properties must secure a highway occupancy permit from PennDOT along with additional traffic-related approvals.
No tenant has been named for the facility, leaving a key question unanswered for now.
Still, the project marks one of the more consequential redevelopment pushes this stretch of Veterans Highway has seen in recent memory, a sign that the corridor’s days as a patchwork of vacant lots and shuttered storefronts may be numbered.
