Every latte sold at Village Grounds Café in Bensalem comes with a side of purpose and a whole lot of cats.
The cozy Bucks County coffee shop is the unlikely beating heart of a growing nonprofit animal welfare campus, as Jenn Frederick reports for Fox 29.
The café is an offshoot of Paw Print Village, a nonprofit that has built an entire animal welfare campus around it.
Next door, Rescue Purrfect shelters more than 130 cats awaiting adoption. Down the path, The Bridge Clinic provides reduced-cost veterinary care for pet owners who might otherwise struggle to afford it.
The connection between your morning cup and the animals on campus is direct and intentional. “Everything goes right back to the animals,” said Rachael Braccia, Paw Print Village Director of Marketing & Development. Every food and beverage purchase feeds the surrounding mission.
At its core, the entire campus exists to do one thing: “keep pets with the people who love them.”
It’s a simple mission with real stakes, one that plays out every day through affordable vet care, second chances for cats, and yes, really good coffee.
The menu holds its own without the altruistic backstory.
Alongside specialty lattes and avocado toast, the kitchen turns out handmade pierogis, the hearty Villager breakfast sandwich, and the standout “Uncle Louie,” a sandwich stacked with chicken, provolone, sun-dried tomatoes, and house-made basil pesto that would earn a return visit on its own.
The campus is still growing. A thrift store, grooming salon, and orthopedic suite are already in place, a dog walking park is open, and a full dog park is on the way, making the complex an increasingly one-stop destination for pet owners across the region.
Village Grounds Café is open Tuesday through Saturday, 8 a.m. to 3 p.m.
For anyone who’s ever wanted their morning routine to mean something a little bigger, the Bensalem café is worth the detour.
