It looks like it’s floating. That’s by design.
A contemporary riverfront estate called Riverscape has hit the market in Solebury Township for $9.9 million, and its architecture alone is enough to stop the scroll, writes Ryan Mulligan for Philadelphia Business Journal.
The four-bedroom, five-bathroom property, completed in 2020 by Princeton-based Studio Hillier, was designed by noted architect J. Robert Hillier. The home sits elevated on massive steel trusses above a concrete pedestal, allowing floodwaters to pass beneath the structure during severe weather.
The raised design makes the home appear to hover over a wildflower garden with the Delaware River stretching out beyond it.
That engineering feat wasn’t incidental; it was necessary. Located along the Delaware River near New Hope, the property sits within a floodplain, and the design was built to meet strict environmental regulations without compromising the panoramic views of the wooded riverfront surroundings.
Listing agent Caryn Black of New Hope’s B&B Luxury Properties put it simply: “The setting of this house is second to none. You have all the privacy you need. When you’re in that house it’s like a floating glass box that sits above a wildflower garden. It’s just breathtaking.”
Floor-to-ceiling windows, open interior spaces, and expansive entertainment decks pull the outside in at every turn.
The property also includes direct access to the Delaware Canal Towpath, a rare combination of seclusion and connectivity in one of Bucks County’s most sought-after corridors.
The home’s design hasn’t gone unnoticed beyond the region. Riverscape earned a Bronze Medal in the 2024 International Architecture and Design Awards for individual home architecture, adding a global credential to an already remarkable property.
