The Doylestown Borough Council recently approved an inter-municipal transfer of a restaurant liquor license, giving a major boost to plans for a new family restaurant and bar in the heart of the borough, writes Jeff Werner for the Patch.
The license came from a Bristol restaurant and now belongs to 50 North Main Street in Doylestown Borough.
Michael and Joy Grafenstine are set to open a higher-end, family-focused restaurant at the former Waters Edge Winery & Bistro, offering creative American cuisine.
The couple, who also own Roberts Block Restaurant in Glenside and Bonnet Lane Family Restaurant in Abington, have finalized a lease for the 5,300-square-foot space with Worth & Worth.
“They intend to operate this location similar to Roberts Block,” said liquor license attorney Ed McHugh. “It may be a little more high-end. There will be some physical improvements done to the interior of the premises.”
The planned renovations will enlarge the bar from 12 to about 20 seats and introduce high-top tables to the bar area. The new restaurant is expected to accommodate approximately 120 patrons.
“It will be a full-service restaurant with alcoholic beverages served as a complement to the meal,” said McHugh.
