Author Natalie Pompilio is taking readers on a guided tour of America’s birthplace in her new book, Philadelphia: A Walk Through History, and a Lahaska store is having a special event to celebrate its release.
On Sunday, April 25, Pompilio will be visiting The Lahaska Bookshop for an Independent Bookstore Day event that will include a discussion of the book and insights from the author.
The event will take place from 1 PM to 3 PM and is open to the public. Fans will have the opportunity to purchase a signed edition and chat with Pompilio.
Her latest book takes readers on a historic journey with guided walks of the city, exploring some of the most prominent and lesser-known historical figures and their impact. Readers will have the chance to explore their homes, the places they worked, and where they made history.
In the book, Pompilio acts as a guide on eight different walks, highlighting sites like Independence Hall, City Tavern, and the Independence Visitor Center. She also discusses the stories of ten historical women, the native Lenni Lenape people, the “Fighting Quakers,” and Dr. Benjamin Rush.
Readers are also treated to a tour of the city’s collection of public art pieces, from sculptures and statues to murals.
