Historic Bucks County Restaurant Has Been Serving Customers for Centuries

McCoole’s at the Historic Red Lion Inn in Quakertown takes diners back in time with its 1700s architecture while serving up a delicious menu.

McCoole’s at the Historic Red Lion Inn in Quakertown has been delivering delicious food to patrons in its historic restaurant since the 1700s, writes Claire Allard for Family Destinations Guide.

The colonial-era building takes guests back to another time, with its stone foundations and wooden balconies that have served Revolutionary War soldiers and modern diners alike.

Inside, the historic charm persists with exposed stone walls, original woodwork, tin ceilings, and welcoming lighting.

The menu features a range of tasty options, with salads, soups, sandwiches, entrees, and desserts, along with an impressive selection of cocktails, house-made draft beers, wines, and more to pair with dinner.

Enjoy their filet mignon, with wild mushrooms in a demi-glace, garlic green beans, and red roasted potatoes with parmesan cheese. The Twin Crab Cakes are another great choice, paired with a fall root pilaf and green beans with a bourbon-pepper maple glaze.

McCoole’s Tavern Menu offers even more options, like fish tacos, chicken wings, the chicken bacon ranch wrap, Louisiana crab dip, the veggie panini, and southwest nachos, along with a few smaller portions of popular main dishes, like the crab cake and linguini and clams.

With several gluten-free and vegetarian options available, there’s something for everyone to enjoy.
