Just across the Delaware River, the Lambertville Farmers Market committee has launched a fundraising campaign to start a farmers market in the city, writes Jeff Werner for Patch.
Members of the committee, along with Mayor Andrew Nowick, created a GoFundMe to raise $10,000 for the project.
“Every town deserves a place where neighbors meet the people who grow their food. Starting this May, Lambertville, N.J., will have one,” said Nowick.
The farmers market will operate on Sundays from 9 AM to noon from mid-May through October at the Lambertville Free Public Library.
The committee’s goal is to raise the funds by May 15 to help make the market’s first year as successful as possible.
“Launching a farmers market takes more than a few tents and good intentions. Our first-year budget is $15,000, supported by three sources: a generous founding donor, vendor subscription fees from local farms, and community support through this fundraiser. Your contribution helps complete that circle,” he said.
The proceeds will go toward hiring local musicians, signage and outreach, supplies for the setup, and a market manager.
Those who donate $500 or more will be listed as a founding supporter on their website, while those who donate $1,000 or more can choose to be listed as a sponsor on any marketing materials.
