Nonprofit in Doylestown Buys Space for Inclusive Housing, Marketplace

Doylestown's Next Step Programs finalized the purchase of a property where it plans to build an inclusive marketplace and housing.

The Next Step Programs nonprofit has finalized the purchase of a 2.5-acre property in Doylestown with its partners, where it plans to build an inclusive marketplace and housing for adults with disabilities, writes Michele Haddon for the Bucks County Courier Times.

The nonprofit has supported more than 1,000 young adults with intellectual and developmental disabilities (IDD) through classes, support services, social groups, and partnerships with local businesses.

The organization has helped participants secure employment, strengthen independent living skills, form friendships, and cultivate a sense of belonging in their communities.

With the latest purchase, the staff hopes to achieve even more.

“Our simple goal is to build a place where residents and visitors experience a feeling of hope, community, and inspiration,” said CEO Josh Fields.

The acquisition of the Paul B. Moyer & Sons property along South Clinton Street represents a significant milestone for the project, which will feature residential housing, a commercial marketplace, and community programming.

“People with IDD deserve more access to affordable housing options, community involvement, and competitive integrated employment,” said Fields. “Adam’s Way will be a solution that so many have been searching for.”
