Great Valley Assistant Superintendent Named Finalist for Central Bucks Top Job

Assistant superintendent in the Great Valley School District, Joanna Wexler, has been named as a finalist for the Central Bucks top position.

Joanna Wexler, assistant superintendent in Great Valley School District, has been named as a finalist for the Central Bucks School District superintendent position, writes Maddie Hanna for The Philadelphia Inquirer.

The school board is set to vote on her appointment on April 14, following a public forum in which she will participate in on April 8.

Wexler’s “extensive experience, particularly in special education and human resources, comes at a critical time for our district,“ said Heather Reynolds, board president of Central Bucks. “We have full confidence in her ability to strengthen these areas while building on our strong academic foundation.”

Former Central Bucks superintendent Steven Yanni was dismissed last year over his handling of abuse allegations involving children in a special-education classroom at Jamison Elementary School.

Since 2020, Wexler has served as Great Valley’s assistant superintendent, managing recruitment, evaluations, and contract negotiations, while playing a key role in the district’s grade realignment, an effort now being undertaken by Central Bucks. Previously, she spent six years as the director of special education and student services at Great Valley.
