ChristianaCare’s Aston Micro-Hospital Set to Open This Summer

A micro-hospital in Aston under construction is set to open in June.

Construction crews are finishing up Delaware County’s first micro-hospital in Aston.

The $50 million micro-hospital in Aston from ChristianaCare is set to open in June 2026 and will serve about 15,000 patients each year, writes Madeleine Wright for CBS News Philadelphia.

It will be located on the first floor of the building. A health center on the second floor offering outpatient care is set to open in October 2026.

The hospital is smaller than a typical hospital but will still provide essential services, said Dr. Vinay Maheshwari, physician executive for growth and strategic partnerships with ChristianaCare.

“The neighborhood hospital will be able to do full-service emergency room care,” Maheshwari said. “It will have X-ray, CT scan, ultrasound, all emergency-type care that you might need.”

The facility is located at the intersection of Dutton Mill Road and Turner Industrial Way. It will have  10 emergency department beds and 10 inpatient beds.

The hope is the hospital can fill gaps in Delaware County healthcare coverage left by the closure of Crozer Health.

About 60 people will be employed at the hospital, including former Crozer employees.
